Welcome to the Official BLOG TOUR for All The Pretty Poses (#2 of the Pretty Series) by M. Leighton!

Genre:
New Adult Contemporary Romance
Series:
Pretty
Publish Date:
January 26, 2014

Synopsis:
He never wanted to be a hero…until she needed him to be.

Strength…
It took Kennedy Moore years to put her life back together after Reese Spencer shattered it.  But she did.  Now, years later, strong and independent, she is in pursuit of a single dream—to dance with the Altman American Dance Theater.  Unfortunately, Kennedy is learning that a girl from nowhere with no money and no contacts might never be able to reach her goal.

That is, until Reese reappears, offering a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that Kennedy just can’t refuse.  In exchange for working on his yacht for a few short weeks, he’ll get her an audition with the famous dance troupe.  All Kennedy has to do is keep her head down, work hard and resist Reese.  That sounds easy enough, right?

Weakness…
Reese doesn’t want to make it easy for Kennedy.  Seeing her again has started a fire in his blood—an unwelcome one.  It took him years to forget about her before, so this time he has a plan.  It’s simple:  Get Kennedy on his yacht, seduce her, get her out of his system, move on with his life.  That sounds easy enough, right?

But the one thing Reese didn’t plan for was Kennedy herself—a girl so strong yet so broken, she makes him want to rescue her, to take care of her.  To save her.  Even if he has to save her from himself.

*Author Interview*
1. Thank you for taking the time for this interview! I thought we could start with the all-too-common question, especially for readers who are new to your books, what inspired you to become a writer? When did you know you wanted to become a writer?
Thank you so much for having me on today!  I'm thrilled to be here:)  To answer your questions, my "story" is commonplace in some ways and unusual in others.  Probably much like me. LOL  At no point in my life had I ever considered becoming an author. I never had an affinity for writing, although I did for reading.  I never kept journals or wrote for fun.  No, my love of writing didn't come until Twilight entered my life in June of 2009.  That's the part that's extremely common these days.  haha  I think those books impacted many a would-be author!  Anyway, when I read the fourth and final book, I was devastated! I felt like all my friends had moved away so I decided the only thing I could do, since obviously Stephanie wouldn't listen to my silent pleas and continue writing more Edward, was to write a story of my own, one that I could continue as long as I wanted. I would never have to give up my friends.  So I did. I sat down on the first afternoon of my 2-week vacation and I wrote for 14 days until I finished my very first novel, a 105-word adult paranormal romance.  Little did I know that story was only the beginning of my story, but I'm so glad it was!

2. What literary works and/or authors has made an impression for you in regards to your writing?
Obviously Stephenie Meyer. LOL  But while I was growing up, I loved to read Johanna Lindsey, Nora Roberts, Danielle Steel, Kathleen Woodiwiss and virtually any of the shorter books that bore the trademark Harlequin seal of approval. LOL  I even read some Stephen King, James Patterson, Patricia Cornwell. I think that's where that element of mystery and surprise comes in when I write. I love a romance with substance, not just fluff.

3. How did you get into writing New Adult novels? What other genres do you write?
My first novel was an adult paranormal romance.  I wrote two more following that one until an idea came to me about a young girl who was transforming into...something else. That's when I wrote my first young adult paranormal romance. I wrote several books in that genre before the contemporary characters Miracle and Hardy found me.  They were my first contemp romance.  Young adult.  It was the next book, one I wanted to write for a slightly older crowd and include slightly older themes, that really changed things for me. It was called The Wild Ones.  It was that book that got me onto the New York Times for the first time.  It got me my agent and my first deal as well. I owe Trick and Cami a debt I could never repay.

4. What is your writing process: do you write when inspiration hits you or do you isolate yourself and write hours one end?
Both, I suppose.  If I'm on deadline, I set myself a daily writing goal so that I don't let it creep up on me. LOL I write very fast, but I also chat on FB and Twitter, so I find that I can spend hours and hours in my office and never type the first word. LOL  So I do try to be structured when a deadline is approaching.  Otherwise, I love to write as inspiration strikes.  Recently, we were at the beach enjoying a short break and I woke up one morning to the most amazing character and story.  I dug out my laptop while my husband slept and started writing immediately.  LOL  I love, love, love those days!

5. When you're not writing, what are you doing?
Being boring.  LOL It's what I'm really, really good at.

6. What gave you the idea or inspiration to write the Pretty Series? How many more books in this series can we expect in the future?
I first met Sloane.  She is this girl who has been sheltered her whole life by a controlling bunch of alpha male police officers. They have their reasons, though, and that's why she has put up with it as long as she has.  But she's about to turn twenty-one and she is ready to spread her wings, with or without her family's permission.  That's when I met Hemi. Her first act of independence and rebellion was to get a tattoo to mark the occasion.  She got so, so, so much more than that when she walked into that tattoo shop!  LOL As for how many books, I don't know.  I would love to do one about each brother on both sides, but I hate to say for sure until I know for sure.  Right now, what I KNOW is that Sig is getting a book next.  Beyond that, it's hard to say :)

7. Which character(s) in this series were your favorite to write? Which one(s) was the hardest?
If you exclude Hemi, who was my absolute favorite to write because he got under my skin so bad he gave me my first self-inflicted book hangover, then it would be Sig.  He was the most fun to write and I am DYING to dive into his story!  But, strangely, it was Reese who demanded that he get his story next, which is All The Pretty Poses that comes out January 26th.  There was something about him...something I couldn't put my finger on that just commanded my attention.  He wouldn't let me go until I wrote his story. And even now, I still haven't recovered.  The last line in the book...it broke my heart and set it free all at the same time.  I won't tell you what it is because it's spoilery, but I hope you feel the same when you read the book :)

8. What are you currently working on? What can we, readers, expect in the near future?
Well, the project I'm working on right this minute isn't something I can talk about just yet, but I can tell you that I'm definitely going to be writing Sig's book and the next Madly book in the first part of this year.  Hopefully I can tell you much more than that in the coming weeks.  *wink wink*

9. Who would you cast to for your characters?
This is always the hardest question in the world for me!  My characters are always one hundred percent in my head and I find it incredibly difficult to find a real person who looks enough like them.  For Reese, I can say that there's one picture of Tyler Hoechlin that could be a close match.  For Kennedy, there is a model. I don't know who she is, don't even know her name, but she could have leapt right off the page and stepped onto the stage to be our dancing Kennedy.  I picture Hemi looking very similar to model Justin Charles Reed.  The tattoos...the hair...that sexy smile...even the aviators...OMG  Now for Sloane, there's a picture of Minka Kelly that looks very much the way I picture our Sloane.  And Sig?  Well, I haven't found a Sig yet, but I will. Rest assured, I will :)

10. If you could be any of your characters, who would you be?
Gosh, I don't know.  Right now, probably Kennedy because she gets to keep Reese. LOL  But I have a Reese of my own, so I can let her have him. He'll always be mine first:)  hehe

11. I have a lot of friends who are aspiring writers, what advice would you give them?
For most authors, success doesn't come overnight, but don't let that dissuade you.  Keep writing!  Being productive is the best gift you can give yourself.  It hones your skills, keeps your creativity flowing and builds your backlist.  How can you go wrong with that?
