World War Z: My Thoughts

The Story
The story revolves around United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt), who traverses the world in a race against time to stop a pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself.

My Thoughts
Wow!!! I was at the edge of my seat during the entire movie! What a thrilling action-packed ride around the globe! It's not your typical zombie movie. It's not about all the blood, guts and gore; but about the fight to survive! As Brad Pitt's character crossed countries to find answers to this outbreak, he was constantly in "close call" proximity to these undead.

The film starts off with a beautiful family morning as Gerry makes breakfast for the kids; then they are off to Philadelphia. During this outbreak as Gerry and his family makes their way out, Gerry witnesses what happens after getting bitten by these infected. He then is contacted by his former employer from the United Nations in hopes to get Gerry to help find answers...he was, after all, the U.N.'s top investigator.

Without going into too much detail, Gerry is off to find answers...his first stop Korea. With each landing, he hits a dead end, but yet, he gathers more information which leads him to possible answers.

The entire time he is crossing into various countries for answers, he pushes on so that he can get back to his family. The intimate scenes with his family were touching, nearly heartbreaking. To have to leave them behind, and the possibility of not coming back is heartwrenching. Loved it! I definitely got emotional for those scenes.

I don't think my heart stopped racing until after the end of the movie. Whew!!! Well, the end of the movie seemed to suggest that there is a possible sequel to this movie. It definitely left it open for it.  From what I have read, the film is loosely based on the book by Max Brooks, but I haven't read it...so, I really couldn't compare, nor would I want to. As far as film adaptations from books that I have seen, none will ever be exactly like its book. That's just it, these films are just adaptations...or interpretations of what the screenwriter and/or director get from the books. Again, these are just my thoughts on film adaptations of books...some are successful adaptations and others not so successful.

All I can say is that World War Z was an amazing rollercoaster ride of pulse-pounding action that got my adrenalin going fro beginning to end.
